I am a civil engineer by degree from the university of cincinnati.  Ever since I took drafting in high school my desire was to design and build my very own home.

I had taken market style home plans and altered them for previous homes but never totally mine from the ground up.  When my wife and I purchased thirteen acres near Batesville, Indiana, I knew that I would need that special builder or contractor to make my wife and my dream come true. 

I went to the building suppliers and two loan companies and two loan companies in the Batesville, area on input for whom they might recommend for my project.  The name that came to the forefront over and over again was R. B. Paul Construction.  I thought that a little unusual because most businesses are reluctant to make recommendations for various reasons. 

The one comment that caught my attention that I couldn't get away from was the one I got from one of the building material suppliers saying "if we send two hundred 2x4's to his job site and 40 are crooked and not to his liking, we get 40 back".  That was the deal maker. I contacted R. B. Paul Construction and set up an appointment to find out what this reputaion for quality and integrity was all about. 

I went to this meeting with my 8.5x11 drawings that my wife and I had agreed upon.  Some of these drawings where to scale and some were not.  I explained that my world had always been one of attention to detail and that I would expect no les for my project.  In other words, I would always be looking over his shoulder and wondering if he would be willing to deal with that.  I went to that first meeting with Mr. Paul and felt very comfortable with his attitude and his approach to my wishes.

Needless to say, he built our home.

Our home building project turned out even better than I had hoped.  When a drawing didn't cover an issue, I stood there and made a sketch of what I wanted and the builder made it happen.  R. B. Paul Construction provided the personal attention our new custom home in Indiana that we truly felt we deserved.  They helped us find the way through the challenges of the new custom home process. 

I got to know Mr. Paul well enough that when I got an idea, he would look up at me and give me that grin, that he was really saying, what are you thinking.  But he always made it happen and never once showed his displeasure if he had any. 

We get many nice comments about our home and I can't imagine  ever getting any builder starting with my skethes and comments, and making a better home with so few problems as R. B Paul construction did for us.
